At Golden Hills we believe it is important to establish and maintain open lines of communication and positive relationships between our staff and teachers, to address students' needs both socially and emotionally and to encourage students to achieve, to the best of their ability, academically. Our program was created to enable students to make choices that will prepare them for the path they choose after completing high school, whether it is attending a post-secondary institution, entering the workforce or starting their own business.

Alberta High School Diploma Graduation Requirements

Diploma Courses Provincial diploma examinations are required for the following courses and must be taken in person in Alberta:

Math 30-1

English 30-1

Math 30-2

English 30-2

Biology 30

Social Studies 30-1

Chemistry 30

Social Studies 30-2

Physics 30

Science 30

To obtain credits in any one of these courses students must receive a final mark of 20% or higher in the course and write the appropriate diploma exam. The final mark is calculated by using 80% of the school-awarded mark and 30% of the diploma exam mark.

Students must pay a fee of $50.00 CAD (subject to change without notice) to write each diploma exam. These fees are paid directly to Alberta Education and are not part of the student's regular tuition fees. The exam fee must be paid in full in order to receive the exam mark.
